Tube Feeder
A hanging cylinder with feeding ports that can limit access by bird size and seed type.
Advantages
- Helps keep seed dry
- Perch and port size can target smaller birds
- Less tray contamination than open platforms
Limitations
- Shared ports can transmit disease
- Seed below the lowest port can spoil
- Plastic may be damaged by squirrels
Placement
Hang where it can be lowered and cleaned easily. Add a baffle when squirrel access is likely.
Cleaning
Take apart and scrub ports and the tube every week or two. Give port-style feeders extra attention if sick birds appear.
